Home care in Oldham County — La Grange, Crestwood and Goshen

Crestwood is about 16 minutes up the road from our East End office and La Grange about 25, so Oldham County sits squarely inside the area we cover. The county has its own acute hospital, Baptist Health La Grange, and a senior center on Dispatchers Way. If you are handling this from another state, the process below works from any distance.

“We were in urgent need of assistance for our 75+ year old sister—a 25 year resident of Oldham County—and since my brothers & I live in MA, we didn't know of any possible way to get her the IMMEDIATE help she required. … Robin saved our sister from who-knows-what-would-have-happened by taking such good care of her, consistently working incredibly hard, readily communicating with the family 900 miles away…”

Choosing a caregiver from a distance

  1. Call us from wherever you live. Tell us about your parent, the house, and the hours that worry you most.
  2. We look for candidates near your parent. We recruit and screen experienced private caregivers, then present the people whose home base and open hours suit La Grange, Crestwood or Goshen.
  3. You meet caregivers by phone or video, or in person if you are in town, and you choose.
  4. Your family becomes the caregiver's client. You set the routine and can text the caregiver yourself; we stay involved to help coordinate the first days and the weekly billing.

Often the same day. Call as soon as a discharge date is set — even the same morning.

Who does what

Hallmark facilitates. You decide. The caregivers we refer work directly for you, not us. Even from another state, your family does the deciding: who comes, which days, which tasks, and whom the caregiver tells about a change, such as your parent's nurse or care manager. Our part is answering, recruiting, screening, presenting and helping coordinate. We cover our placements with liability insurance and occupational accident insurance.

For a parent living alone in Oldham County, the case for a private caregiver comes down to three things: more experienced caregivers; higher continuity of care, which matters most when no relative can drop by; and more comprehensive care, since caregivers can work under the direction of the nurse or care manager your family already relies on.

Questions to ask on a video interview

  • How long is your drive to La Grange (or Crestwood, or Goshen), and what changes on an icy morning?
  • How would you keep us posted, by text or call, when we live hours away?
  • What would you do on a day Mom refuses help at the door?
  • Which of the hours we have in mind could you keep for months, not weeks?

The answers are yours to weigh. The choice is yours too.

Where we cover in Oldham County

La Grange (40031)

The county seat, about 25 minutes and 19 miles from our office, where CSX freight trains still run down the middle of Main Street. 1,461 of La Grange's 10,311 residents are 65 or older (14.2%). Baptist Health La Grange, the county's acute hospital, is at 1025 New Moody Lane (90 beds). The Oldham County Senior Life Enrichment Center, run by Tri-County Community Action Agency, is at 1015 Dispatchers Way, (502) 222-1349.

Crestwood (40014)

About 16 minutes and 10 miles from our office, the closest of these three towns to us, and home to the county visitor center. Crestwood skews younger than its neighbors: 696 of 6,356 residents (11.0%) are 65 or older.

Goshen (40026)

About 23 minutes and 14 miles out. Goshen is small, 989 residents in the Census estimate, so its 65-and-older figure (149, 15.1%) carries a wide margin of error. Prospect is covered on our Louisville page.

Across the county, 10,989 of 70,525 residents (15.6%) were 65 or older in July 2024, a lower share than Jefferson County's 17.8%.

Henry and Trimble counties

Both are inside our service area, and both are KIPDA counties, so the aging resources below apply. They are farther from our office than any Oldham town, and we have no separate page for them. When you call, we will tell you plainly, and quickly, whether we can present candidates for your location and the hours you need.

Baptist Health La Grange's name, address and bed count come from the September 2026 Kentucky hospital directory, checked in October 2026. Hallmark Homecare is a referral agency and is not affiliated with any hospital or health system.

Meals and aging services here

  • Tri-County Community Action Agency's Meals on Wheels delivers in Oldham County on Wednesdays.
  • Meal referrals still go through the KIPDA Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living (11520 Commonwealth Drive, Louisville 40299, (502) 266-5571), which serves Oldham, Henry and Trimble among its seven counties.
  • Oldham County Senior Life Enrichment Center, 1015 Dispatchers Way, La Grange, (502) 222-1349.

None of these organizations is connected to Hallmark; we name them so you know where to start. Details come from the state's AAA list and each program's own website, checked in October 2026.

Care at the hours you need

If your parent should no longer be alone overnight, start with 24-hour care: a small team on 12-hour shifts — sometimes as few as four caregivers — can cover the full week (not guaranteed). For a few mornings a week, read senior care at home; for memory loss, dementia care. If a long-term care policy will pay, read Long-term care insurance first.

Questions families ask

Oldham County questions, answered

We live out of state. Can we choose a caregiver for Mom in La Grange without flying in?

Yes. Most of the choosing can happen on a screen: you meet caregivers by phone or video, pick the one you trust, and keep that caregiver's number in your own phone afterward. The relationship is between your family and the caregiver.

Mom is coming home from Baptist Health La Grange. Can care start that day?

Often, yes. Phone us the morning the hospital names a discharge day, with whatever it has said Mom will need at home, and we start presenting candidates for you to consider.

Do you cover Henry and Trimble counties too?

Yes, both are in our service area. They are its farthest corner, so phone early in the day and you will hear a straight answer about which hours we can realistically present candidates for.

Can long-term care insurance pay for care at home?

Often, yes. Many long-term care policies reimburse care from a caregiver you engage through Hallmark. We take care of the provider side — the provider forms your carrier asks us for, and the paid invoices you submit; understanding your own policy and working with your carrier stay with you. Call us to get started.
