Senior home care in Louisville

Senior care at home in Louisville, on your terms.

Most older adults want to stay in their own home, and with the right help most can. In-home senior care through Hallmark is an experienced private caregiver in your parent’s home — for the mornings, the evenings, the nights, or all of it. Hallmark Homecare is a referral agency. We recruit, screen and present experienced private caregivers; you meet them, choose one, and the caregiver works directly for you, on the schedule you set.

What help at home looks like

Senior home care, in the shapes families actually use.

Mornings and evenings

The bookends of the day

Help getting up, bathing and dressed; breakfast and medication reminders; then the evening routine and a safe night’s start. The hours when a parent is most likely to fall, covered.

A standing schedule

Several days a week, the same caregiver

Company, meals, errands, appointments and light housekeeping on a schedule you set — the same familiar face each time, who notices when something changes.

Overnight

Someone there through the night

A caregiver present overnight — awake and keeping watch, or resting but there — so your parent is never alone at night and you can sleep. 24-hour & overnight →

Around the clock

Every hour, a small steady team

When a parent needs someone every hour, a small team on 12-hour shifts — sometimes as few as four caregivers — can cover the full week, with fewer faces and higher continuity of care. Live-in care →

Stay home, or move?

Is in-home care a better option than assisted living for my parent?

For many families, yes — and for some, no. In-home care keeps a parent in familiar surroundings with one-to-one attention and a caregiver they chose; a community offers built-in social life and staff on site around the clock. The questions that usually decide it: how much help is needed and when, whether your parent wants to stay, what the home itself allows, and what each option costs for the hours you actually need. Two things worth knowing: one-to-one care at home is often what a community cannot provide, and a private caregiver can also come to a parent who already lives in assisted living or memory care.

Why families choose a private caregiver

Three things change when the caregiver works for you.

More experienced caregivers

Because more of what you pay reaches the caregiver, private arrangements attract seasoned professionals — people who have done this work for years and chose to keep doing it on their own terms. We present candidates with their background and experience; you interview and decide.

Higher continuity of care

The same caregiver, day after day. A caregiver who is paid properly, chosen by you and answerable to you is far more likely to stay — so your loved one is not meeting a new face every week. And a caregiver who knows your loved one becomes your eyes and ears when you cannot be there — quick to notice a change and to keep you informed.

More comprehensive care

The caregivers we refer work to their own level of competency. Many can support medication reminders and other everyday health tasks under the direction of your care manager or nurse, and when a situation calls for a licensed nurse, we can present one.

What we do

Hallmark

We answer the phone — a real person, days, nights and weekends — recruit and screen experienced caregivers, present candidates whose experience and availability fit the hours you need, and help coordinate getting started, weekly billing and year-end tax forms.

What you do

Your family

You interview and choose the caregiver, and engage them directly — the caregiver works for you, not us. You set the hours, the tasks and the routine, and direct the day-to-day care, with your nurse or care manager if you have one. We do not assess your loved one or write a plan of care.

Every kind of care

Senior care services, all from one caregiver.

All from a caregiver you choose. Tell us what is happening and we present candidates whose experience fits.

Questions families ask

Senior home care, answered.

What does senior home care include?

Whatever keeps your parent safe and well at home: company and meals, help with bathing and dressing, medication reminders, errands and appointments, a steady presence overnight, and — when it is needed — care around the clock. You set the tasks and the routine; the caregiver works for you.

Can my parent stay at home with dementia, or after a fall?

Often, yes. Many of the caregivers we refer have years of experience with memory loss, mobility and recovery, and the same caregiver can return day after day. Tell us what is happening and we present candidates whose experience fits.

How many hours a week do families usually start with?

Most families start with a regular schedule of several shifts a week and adjust as the situation changes — more hours after a hospital stay, fewer as a parent recovers. You set the schedule and can change it as you go.

Can long-term care insurance help pay for senior care at home?

Often, yes. Many long-term care policies reimburse care from a caregiver you engage through Hallmark. We take care of the provider side — the provider forms your carrier asks us for, and the paid invoices you submit; understanding your own policy and working with your carrier stay with you.
