Hi.
I own Hallmark Homecare Louisville. I’m also a CPA who spent twenty-some years in boardrooms and classrooms before I found the work I was meant to do: helping families find the person who will care for someone they love.
Here’s a little about me. Fair warning — it runs long. My family will tell you I’m a bit of a ham.
The work I was meant to do.
For six years I was the CFO of ModusOne Health, and I loved it — we were helping doctors and patients across the country, making a real impact on people’s lives.
But in 2024, I wanted to build something of my own, closer to home — something that made a difference right here, in my own community, one family at a time. That kind of difference is hard to find from a conference room. I found Hallmark Homecare and the team behind it, and I love what I do.
When a family tells me how much the care meant to them, or a caregiver tells me the work changed their life and thanks me for it — I’m filled with a gratitude and a peace that tell me I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. Doing what I was meant to do.
The people who keep me grounded.
My wife and I married in 1998, and she’s the heart of our family — a devoted Waldorf teacher. Our daughter is off studying at St. John’s College in New Mexico, and our son lives in Los Angeles, where he works for The Community Company. We’re proud of both of them beyond words.
And then there are the four-legged members of the household — our dogs and cats, who actually run the place.

I took the scenic route.
Reno to San Diego to Louisville, with a few unlikely detours in between.
Reno, San Diego, UC Santa Barbara
I was born in Reno, grew up in San Diego, and studied at UC Santa Barbara — with three years in Lake Tahoe to follow.
Teaching, then BumperDoc
Eight years in Santa Cruz, where I taught fourth and fifth graders at Terra Pacifica Charter School — some of the most rewarding work I’ve ever done. Then back to San Diego, where I served as president of BumperDoc Franchises for two years.
Churchill Downs, KCC, ModusOne Health
In 2008, my wife and I made one of the best decisions of our lives: we moved to Louisville to raise our family near my mom and dad, my sister and her two kids, and a whole network of aunts, uncles and cousins. We fell in love with this city. Here I spent three years in the settlement department at Churchill Downs, five years at KCC Manufacturing (an employee-owned company I was proud to be part of), and six years as CFO of ModusOne Health — before starting Hallmark in 2024. We plan to be part of this community, and to contribute as much as we can, for the rest of our days.
What you may not expect from your accountant.
I’ve been skateboarding since I was a kid.
I fell in love with it around age 10, and it has never really let go. I sold my board once, in my late twenties, during some snowboarding years — then came back to it at 30, skating curbs and flatground alongside my fifth-grade students, and I’ve been at it ever since. These days I’m part of a wonderful community of (let’s say) well-seasoned local skaters, and I’m grateful every single day for the creative and physical outlet.
I’m hopelessly fond of the no-comply — a whole family of tricks I am a little obsessed with. Being an accountant, I of course keep a spreadsheet of the variations.
One of them I invented and named the “Noah Comply,” after my son. Coming up in San Diego, I skated alongside folks like Willy Santos long before any of us knew he’d become a legend. I don’t take a minute of it for granted now. It’s still the same stoke: learning a new trick and feeling completely alive in the moment.
And a few other things I love…
When I’m not skating or working, you’ll probably find me juggling — I love teaching kids to juggle — or playing pinball, snowboarding, hiking, playing soccer, curled up with a good book, traveling with my wife, or walking the dogs. Some of my favorite hours are spent out on the golf course with my dad, and with my niece and her three little ones. It’s a full, fortunate life — life’s short, so keep pushing and giving.
