What is a home care referral agency? How Hallmark Homecare works.
A home care referral agency recruits and screens experienced caregivers and presents them to families; the client or responsible party interviews, chooses and engages the caregiver directly, and the caregiver works for them. That is what Hallmark Homecare is. We are not a home care agency, not a home health agency and not a listing site — we are the people who find the caregiver, check the background, make the introduction and handle the paperwork, while your family stays in charge.
A real person answers — days, nights and weekends.
“Hallmark Homecare was able to assist our family quickly and professionally. I most appreciated the clear instruction, explanation of process, follow through and follow up.”
From your first call to a caregiver at home.
Call and tell us what is happening
Share the situation and what your family needs. There is no pressure and no obligation.
We present candidates
We recruit and screen experienced caregivers, then present those whose experience and availability fit your needs.
You choose and set the schedule
You review candidates, choose who fits your family, and engage the caregiver directly on a schedule you set.
We help coordinate the details
Getting started, weekly billing and the caregiver's year-end 1099 are handled for you, so you can focus on your loved one.
Hallmark facilitates. You decide.
Hallmark
We answer the phone — a real person, days, nights and weekends — recruit and screen experienced caregivers, present candidates whose experience and availability fit the hours you need, and help coordinate getting started, weekly billing and year-end tax forms.
Your family
You interview and choose the caregiver, and engage them directly — the caregiver works for you, not us. You set the hours, the tasks and the routine, and direct the day-to-day care, with your nurse or care manager if you have one. We do not assess your loved one or write a plan of care.
Three things we are not — and the one thing we are.
The caregiver does not work for us
A home care agency employs its caregivers, assigns them and supervises them. Through Hallmark, you meet the caregivers we present, you choose one, and the caregiver works for you. That single difference is why far more of what you pay reaches the caregiver — and why experienced caregivers stay.
Not a medical provider
Home health is licensed, physician-ordered and episode-limited: nurses and therapists for a set number of visits. A private caregiver works for your family for as long as you want, to their own experience and competency. Home health vs home care →
Screened, presented, introduced
A listing site shows you strangers and leaves the rest to you. We recruit for experience, run a background check and verify references before we present anyone, then introduce you and stay reachable — days, nights and weekends.
The choice, the schedule, the care
You interview and choose. You set the hours, the tasks and the routine, with your nurse or care manager if you have one. You can end the arrangement at any time, for any reason.
Three things change when the caregiver works for you.
More experienced caregivers
Because more of what you pay reaches the caregiver, private arrangements attract seasoned professionals — people who have done this work for years and chose to keep doing it on their own terms. We present candidates with their background and experience; you interview and decide.
Higher continuity of care
The same caregiver, day after day. A caregiver who is paid properly, chosen by you and answerable to you is far more likely to stay — so your loved one is not meeting a new face every week. And a caregiver who knows your loved one becomes your eyes and ears when you cannot be there — quick to notice a change and to keep you informed.
More comprehensive care
The caregivers we refer work to their own level of competency. Many can support medication reminders and other everyday health tasks under the direction of your care manager or nurse, and when a situation calls for a licensed nurse, we can present one.
A referral agency, answered.
Is Hallmark Homecare a home care agency?
No. Hallmark Homecare is a referral agency. A home care agency employs its caregivers and sends them to you; we recruit and screen experienced private caregivers and present them to you, you choose, and the caregiver works directly for your family.
Who employs the caregiver?
You do. You engage the caregiver directly, set the schedule and direct the care. The caregiver is an independent professional who works for your family, not for Hallmark.
What does Hallmark actually do, then?
We answer the phone, recruit and screen experienced caregivers, run background checks and verify references, present candidates whose experience and availability fit what you tell us, and help coordinate getting started, weekly billing and year-end tax forms. Our fee is stated separately in the agreement you sign.
Can I stop at any time?
Yes, at any time and for any reason. We ask only for as much notice as you can give, as a courtesy to the caregiver.
Call and we will walk you through it.
