A resident needs more than the community can provide. One-to-one help, without moving them.
Inside independent living, assisted living or memory care, the caregivers we refer provide one-to-one attention for a single resident. The family engages the caregiver directly; we help with the introductions and the paperwork.
Four steps, and the family stays in charge.
The family calls — or you call with them
Tell us the hours, what the resident needs, and your community's rules for outside caregivers.
We present candidates
Experienced caregivers — many with memory-care experience — whose availability and experience fit.
The family chooses
The family interviews, decides, and engages the caregiver directly.
The caregiver comes to the community
On the family's schedule, working alongside your team and following the policies the family asks them to follow.
Hallmark facilitates.
- Answer the phone — a real person, days, nights and weekends.
- Recruit and screen experienced caregivers, and present candidates whose experience and availability fit what you tell us.
- Help coordinate the details for the family — getting started, scheduling tools, weekly billing and the year-end tax forms — so those tasks stay off their plate.
- Help families arrange for a long-term care insurance policy to pay, including the carrier’s forms and invoices.
- Tell you honestly, and quickly, when we cannot help in time.
The family decides.
- Interviews and chooses the caregiver, and engages the caregiver directly — the caregiver works for the family, not us.
- Sets the schedule and the tasks, and directs the day-to-day care.
- Decides whether to continue — at any time, for any reason.
- Owns the plan of care, with the clinicians and professionals the family works with. We do not assess the patient or write the plan; the caregivers we refer work to their own competency under the direction of the family’s nurse or care manager.
In one breath.
Approvals and memberships we hold.
Answered plainly.
Does the caregiver work for the community?
No. The caregiver is engaged directly by the resident's family and works for them — not for the community and not for Hallmark.
Will the caregiver follow our policies for outside caregivers?
Tell us what they are — sign-in, badges, where the caregiver may and may not go — and we pass them to the family, who asks the caregiver to follow them. The family directs the caregiver; you can raise any concern with the family directly.
What if the resident has dementia?
Many of the caregivers we refer have years of experience with memory loss, and our Family Care Solutions Specialist, Tammy Kaninberg, is a certified Dementia Practitioner. Tell us what the resident's days look like and we will present candidates suited to them.

Hallmark is a referral agency, not a home care employer. The caregivers we refer work directly for the family, more of what the family pays reaches the caregiver, and the family receives higher continuity of care.
