Home care in Southern Indiana — Clark and Floyd counties, one bridge away

We do not keep an Indiana office; our office is in Louisville's East End, one bridge across the river, and Jeffersonville is about 22 minutes away. Floyd County's 65-and-older share is 18.4% and Clark County's is 17.5% (July 2024), and Indiana families here use a different state aging network than Kentucky's, with LifeSpan Resources in New Albany as their Area Agency on Aging.

“When my father needed in-home care in Georgetown, Indiana, Hallmark Homecare was there for us. He started out needing overnight coverage, and Shane quickly shared experienced caregivers for us to choose from. They were kind and capable, and they gave our family peace of mind through the night. … I can recommend them to any family in southern Indiana looking for compassionate caregivers.”

How Indiana families start

  1. Call our Louisville number. Same phone, same people, whichever side of the Ohio you live on.
  2. We recruit, screen and present experienced caregivers whose location and availability fit the hours you want covered.
  3. You meet them and choose. If you are out of state, you can meet caregivers by phone or video.
  4. The caregiver works for your family, on the routine you set; we help coordinate the start and the weekly billing.

Often the same day. Call as soon as a discharge date is set — even the same morning.

Who does what

Hallmark facilitates. You decide. You engage the caregiver directly, and you direct the day-to-day care, with your nurse or care manager if you have one. Hallmark answers, recruits, screens, presents and helps coordinate. We cover our placements with liability insurance and occupational accident insurance.

What families gain by going private: more experienced caregivers, higher continuity of care (the same face through the week), and more comprehensive care: caregivers can work under the direction of your care manager or nurse.

Crossing the river

Five road bridges join Louisville and Southern Indiana. Three are tolled through RiverLink: the Abraham Lincoln Bridge (I-65 northbound), the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge (I-65 southbound) and the Lewis and Clark Bridge in the East End (KY 841 / IN SR 265). Two are toll-free: the Sherman Minton Bridge (I-64) and the Clark Memorial, or Second Street, Bridge (US 31). If a caregiver will be driving your father to Louisville appointments, settle the route with the caregiver you choose. Current toll rates are on riverlink.com.

Town by town

New Albany

New Albany is the Floyd County seat, about 27 minutes and 17 miles from our office; the toll-free way in from Louisville is the Sherman Minton Bridge. ZIPs: 47150, with Floyds Knobs at 47119. Census estimates put 6,729 of the city's 37,581 residents at 65 or older (17.9%). The acute hospital is Baptist Health Floyd at 1850 State Street (276 beds). The former Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital at 3104 Blackiston Boulevard became PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greater Indiana North when PAM Health acquired it in December 2024. The Culbertson Mansion at 914 E. Main Street anchors the Mansion Row Historic District.

Jeffersonville

Jeffersonville (47130) is about 22 minutes and 13 miles from our office. 8,950 of its 51,043 residents, 17.5%, are 65 or older. Families here come home from Norton Clark Hospital at 1220 Missouri Avenue (236 beds), which Norton notes was formerly Clark Memorial Health. The Big Four Bridge, an 1895 railroad bridge reopened for walkers and cyclists, has linked Louisville's Waterfront Park to Jeffersonville since the Indiana ramp opened in May 2014. If an afternoon walk there is part of the routine you set, mention it at the interview.

Clarksville & Sellersburg

Clarksville (47129) is about 23 minutes and 14 miles from our office, with Sellersburg (47172) just north. 3,568 of the town's 22,016 residents, 16.2%, are 65 or older. For inpatient rehab, PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greater Indiana is at 2101 Broadway Street (42 rehab beds); the nearest acute hospitals are Norton Clark in Jeffersonville and Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. Falls of the Ohio State Park sits on the riverfront at 201 W. Riverside Drive.

Hospital names, addresses and bed counts were read from the Indiana Department of Health hospital directory and Norton Healthcare's site in October 2026. Hallmark Homecare is a referral agency and is not affiliated with any hospital or health system.

Care at the hours you need

Overnight coverage that later shifts to daytime, 24-hour care, shorter daytime visits and dementia care all start with the same call. Costs: What in-home care costs.

Questions families ask

Southern Indiana questions, answered

Is there a Hallmark office in Indiana?

No. We are locally owned and based at 9900 Corporate Campus Drive in Louisville, one bridge across the river. Caregivers are presented whose location and availability fit where your family lives in Clark or Floyd County.

Dad leaves Norton Clark Hospital on Friday. How soon can we meet caregivers?

Often the same day. Call as soon as a discharge date is set — even the same morning. You interview the candidates and choose; the caregiver works directly for you.

Can we use LifeSpan Resources and a private caregiver at the same time?

Yes. LifeSpan is a public agency, and its programs, such as Meals To Go!, are separate from anything you set up with a caregiver. Call LifeSpan at 812-948-8330 for its services, and call us at (502) 546-7765 for caregivers.

Do the toll bridges matter for a caregiver?

They can. The Sherman Minton (I-64) and Second Street (US 31) bridges are toll-free; the I-65 and East End bridges are tolled. If trips into Louisville are part of the routine you set, talk the route through with the caregiver you choose.

Can long-term care insurance pay for care at home?

Often, yes. Many long-term care policies reimburse care from a caregiver you engage through Hallmark. We take care of the provider side — the provider forms your carrier asks us for, and the paid invoices you submit; understanding your own policy and working with your carrier stay with you. Call us to get started.
