An ICU discharge on a Friday. Care in the home that night.
One Louisville family. Three Google reviews. Told in their own words — the Bass family gave us permission to share it.
Discharged from the ICU. Care needed at home — starting that night.
A Louisville man was discharged from the ICU and needed around-the-clock support to come home, starting that night. Family members who live across the country were scheduled to leave the next morning.
The calls that went nowhereThe family called several highly rated home care agencies, some recommended by friends. Two went straight to voicemail. None called back.
“We were panicked. We needed someone in the house that night, and time was not on our side.”
“I began calling agencies at 8AM. Two went straight to voicemail with no response. When I called Hallmark Homecare, Shane Sparks answered right away.”
Four hours from the first call to a caregiver for that night.
| 8:00 a.m. | Shane Sparks answered the phone. |
| 12:00 p.m. | A caregiver was presented and engaged by the family for that night. |
| Through the weekend | A rotation of experienced caregivers, overnight and daytime — chosen by the family. |
| Within days | The family released the days it no longer needed. Charges stopped with them. |
“Shane answered the phone at 8:00 a.m. He didn’t just take down our information; he listened. He understood the urgency and the emotion behind our call. He moved quickly…”
“When I called Hallmark Homecare, Shane Sparks answered right away. His compassion, professionalism, and sense of urgency were immediate and genuine.”
Experienced caregivers, on short notice.
Because more of what a family pays reaches the caregiver, experienced caregivers make themselves available on short notice — including the same day. The family interviewed and chose; the caregivers worked for the family, not for us.
And when the need endedA few days later the family no longer needed the coverage it had set up. It said so, and the days came off — no minimum hours, no term, and notice is a courtesy to caregivers, never a requirement.
“Every single caregiver was top-notch — each bringing advanced training and professional experience that fit exactly what my dad needed.”
“He introduced the caregivers to us and connected us by text. Each and every one of the caregivers was excellent, very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with.”
“Hallmark Homecare truly is different. The caregivers care. Shane cares. And when you are in crisis, that difference means everything.”

Three things this story shows.
Help in place fast — honestly
A real person answers days, nights and weekends. Families reaching us after a hospital discharge have had experienced caregivers in place the same day. And when we cannot help in time, we say so.
The family stayed in charge
Hallmark Homecare is a referral agency. We recruit and screen experienced caregivers and present candidates; the client or responsible party interviews, chooses, sets the schedule and directs the care. The caregivers we refer work directly for them, not us.
It ended at the family’s word
No minimum hours. No term. Service may end at any time and for any reason — and the days a family releases come off the bill.
The caregivers we refer work to their own level of competency. Tell us what the situation requires and we will present candidates qualified for it.

The same story, from a stewardship standpoint.
Care in the home in four hours; ended a few days later, at the family’s word. What the arrangement looked like for the file.
The client engages the caregiver directly.
Hallmark recruits, screens and presents candidates. The client — or the fiduciary acting for the client — selects the caregiver, sets the rate, and directs the care.
No minimum hours. No term.
Service may end at any time and for any reason. Notice is requested as a courtesy to caregivers, never required. Deposits are returned at the end of service.
Our fee is separately stated.
It is set out in the Client Service Agreement and never reduces what the caregiver is paid. A one-time placement fee structure is also available.
Records for the file, weekly.
Billing runs each Tuesday for the prior Monday through Sunday through a secure third-party billing platform. Caregivers clock in and out by phone with location verification. Invoices and payment records are available on request.
No year-end tax administration.
Payments are processed through the billing platform, which issues the caregiver’s year-end 1099 — nothing for the estate to prepare.
Insurance.
We cover our placements with liability insurance and occupational accident insurance.
The one-page versions.
Two print-ready pages, the same story — one for families and the professionals who refer them, one for trustees, guardians and fiduciaries.
